Issues reviewing mobile-edited videos inside frame.io

Hey everyone,

I’ve been testing a workflow where short-form videos are edited on mobile first and then uploaded to frame io for review and collaboration. Some of the clips were exported from capcut apk, and I’ve noticed something odd once they’re inside frame io.

In a few cases, playback behaves slightly differently compared to how it looks on the mobile device, especially with transitions, frame timing, or certain effects. On top of that, sometimes the color profile or compression feels slightly off after upload, even though the file looks fine before importing.

I’m trying to figure out whether this is an export settings issue from the mobile editor, a codec/container mismatch, or something happening during frame io’s processing/transcoding stage.

Has anyone else here worked with videos edited on mobile apps and then reviewed them inside frame io? Are there recommended export settings to make sure playback and color remain consistent?

Would really appreciate any advice on making this workflow smoother.

hi @millie656 if you have examples that you can share that would be helpful. You can DM me a link if you’re concerned about privacy.

Any chance you are editing HDR/DolbyVision videos on mobile?
