Transcript generation incorrectly triggers the `files.ready` webhook

We’ve found what appears to be a bug with the `files.ready` webhook.

Our integration uses this webhook to trigger Slack notifications and internal review workflows whenever a file is ready.

However, generating a transcript for an existing video also triggers the `files.ready` webhook, even though the file itself hasn’t changed. This causes our automations to run again, resulting in duplicate Slack notifications and duplicate review work.

From our perspective, transcript generation shouldn’t emit a `files.ready` event.

Can anyone from the [Frame.io](http://Frame.io) team confirm whether this is a known issue?

Hi @thekhorshed thanks for letting us know about this!

I’ve been trying to reproduce this on my end and haven’t been able to so far. Did this start happening recently?

Hi @rosiec thanks for looking into this!

We did some additional testing and found that the behavior is not consistent—it triggers the `files.ready` webhook roughly 50% of the time when generating a transcript.

We only started using transcript generation yesterday, so that is when we first noticed the issue.

Thanks again!

Hi @rosiec, just checking in on this issue.

We’re still encountering it intermittently (~50% of the time), and it’s impacting our production workflow by triggering duplicate automation runs.

If it would help, we’re happy to provide example file IDs, webhook payloads, or any other details needed to reproduce it.

Thanks!
